Initiatives

  • Uyghurs

Human Rights Action Group is working with Uyghur groups, including Uyghur Rights Advocacy Project and World Uyghur Congress, to combat and seek justice for various atrocities, including genocide, committed by the Chinese Communist Party against Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslims. We are working on a variety of issues including Uyghur forced labour, refugee resettlement, and transnational repression.

  • Iranians

Human Rights Action Group is working with Iranian groups, including the Association of Families of Flight PS752 Victims, to seek justice for atrocity crimes and human rights violations committed by the Iranian government. By working with the Association in its pursuit of justice, our lawyers are working to relieve the suffering and distress of the families to help them put their lives back together.

  • Tamils

Human Rights Action Group is working with Tamil groups, including International Tamil Refugee Assistance Network and Tamil Rights Group, to seek justice for continuing atrocity crimes and human rights violations committed against the Tamils in Sri Lanka. We work on accountability initiatives to combat impunity for past crimes, as well as initiatives to seek an end to continuing violations.

  • Tigrayans

Human Rights Action Group is working with Tigrayan groups, including United Tegaru Canada, to seek justice for continuing atrocity crimes and human rights violations committed against Tigrayans in Ethiopia, where arbitrary detentions persist, sexual violence and starvation are used as weapons of war, and there is mounting evidence of genocidal intent by both Ethiopian and Eritrean forces in the region.

  • Cubans

Human Rights Action Group is working with Cuban human rights groups, including Democratic Spaces and CUBA DECIDE, to seek an end to the continuing human rights violations that are being committed against the Cuban people, including mass arbitrary detentions and torture. We work with these groups to combat impunity for past crimes as well as seek an end to continuing violations.

  • Turkish people

Human Rights Action Group is working with Turkish human rights defenders and groups, including Northern Justice Watch, to seek justice for the atrocity crimes and human rights violations committed by the Turkish government against minority groups. We work with these groups to seek an end to the ongoing human rights violations in Türkiye, including mass arbitrary detentions and torture.

  • Eritreans

There is longstanding repression in Eritrea. Eritrean forces have been implicated in the commission of crimes against Tigrayans, and Eritreans are subjected to numerous atrocities and gross violations of human rights at the hands of the regime. Human Rights Action Group is working with community groups such as 'Hidmonna' - Eritrean-Canadians Human Rights Group of Manitoba to address these issues.

  • Victims of Terrorism

Human Rights Action Group is working with groups that represent victims of terrorism, including Secure Canada (formerly the Canadian Coalition Against Terror), to protect and support victims of terrorism, and to help them seek justice for acts of terrorism and mass violence that occur in Canada and overseas. We work with these groups to help them leverage domestic and international avenues for justice, helping them rebuild.
